WILLIAMSBURG FASHION WEEKEND IS BACK! AT SECRET PROJECT ROBOT FRI&SAT SEPT18&19th!

Williamsburg Fashion Weekend, the original innovator of unorthodox fashion shows in Brooklyn, opens its sixth season on September 18^th and 19^th, at Secret Project Robot. The group of designers we assembled this year, with their finger on the pulse of our fashionable neighbourhood, will display the diverse elements that make up what Williamsburg fashion aesthetic is about, right now!

Two designers from two of our favorite Williamsburg boutiques, (Erin Weckerle for Sodafine), (Sirius* for Treehouse, Brooklyn) have teamed up to show off their latest hand-made, one of a kind creations. Their past shows have always blown us away, we can't wait to see what they will surprise us with this season!

Racecar! by Nettie Tiso offers clothing for both men and women. The design concept this season fuses modern and historic late 1800's characteristics to create all new forms. It is utilitarian clothing that is made unique with contemporary eccentricities and western motifs.

Adrianne Lee, of Ninkybink, with her modern take on the girly-girl aesthetic of the 50's, will be accompanied by the band "st. Mannequins".

Alisha Trimble, continues exploring concept & aesthetics in her presentations with her line Alisha. Using crystal visions, she articulates vanguard style using fit, proportion, and layering. Alisha's show is going to recreate the "classic" exchange between Nancy Kerrigan and Tanya Harding and will feature the performance artist Cleo Fishel.

Raab West of Yard, with cool attitude and vibrant colors, hand-dyed by the designer himself, will show garments that mix the relaxed attitude of the Caribbean with NY street-smarts. The movie "The Wiz" will be the theme of Raab's show as a tribute to Michael Jackson!

Then appliqué is the craft for you! Learn how to add beautiful reverse appliqué to a pair of jeans, a skirt, a jacket or anything else you can think of. You supply the clothes and we'll teach you everything you need to know to reverse appliqué. Kayte Terry is a stylist and author living in Brooklyn. Always wanted to learn to knit but didn't know where to begin? Then this 2-part class is the way to go! Come get armed with knitting knowledge in this super-intensive workshop. learn cast-on, cast-off, knit stitch , purl stitch and increasing and decreasing too!....don't despair, pretty soon you'll be knitting like a pro! (supplies can be purchased at treehouse, or you an bring your own...) Thurs. April 2 & 9, 6:30-9pm $125 Sunday, April 5th Junk to Jewels with Siri Wilson Ever wonder what to do with all those beads and baubles from Grandma's closet? Or do you need yet another reason to keep hoarding broken necklaces and single earrings? Well here's your answer! In just one two hour session you'll learn how to restring and clasp necklaces and bracelets on silk and nylon thread. You'll learn the basics of jump ring usage, as well as chain layering and clasping. All this will be done with cut apart treasures and loose bead findings. We'll provide the know how and lotsa junk, feel free to bring your own baubles as well. Treehouse's own Siri will show you how it's done! Sunday April 5th 6:30-8:30 $40 Thursday, April 16th Embroidery with Cal Patch of Hodgepodge The lovely Cal Patch is back in the trees with her fabulous embroidery skills and that loveable sidekick Gertie too. In this one session extravaganza, you'll learn 12 classic embroidery stitches and be off and running to custom-decorate everything you own! After making a basic stitch sampler, Cal will help you visualize planning your own personal project. All supplies included ...including tasty treats!...Stitch away! We can't believe it's already this weekend! Aaaack! treehouse has again been invited to team up with the amazing shop sodafine to take part in Williamsburg Fashion Weekend (Feb. 20&21st...we're scheduled to be a part of Sat Feb.21st...this time at glasslands!....around 9ish) we're cooking up a show of rhythm and magic not to be missed...(a little hint... our models are all fierce female brooklyn musicians,that we've borrowed from some of our absolutely favorite bands!) and after our show, two absolutely mind-blowingly great bands, Tall Firs and Celebration are rockin' the house. Soooooo excited! Seriously. Hope you'll come and share this amazing experience with us!
